Hope Academy of the Bronx will equip students, as eager followers of God, to obey…
The Great Mandate
“And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth’” (Genesis 1:28).
We will do so by:
- encouraging the creation of beauty throughout all subject areas.
- teaching obedience and respect for God’s models of family and authority.
- honoring one another—staff, parents and students.
- stewarding school resources with care.
- cultivating fascination, awe and wonder at God’s creation and design, building understanding to the glory of God.
- affirming the individual value of each student as a creation and image-bearer of God; demonstrating that a person’s value is not in his/her performance.
The Great Commandment
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37b, 39).
We will do so by:
- instructing students in biblical doctrines, teaching the Bible in its fullness.
- disciplining students recognizing that rightness with God through Christ, not behavior, is the root issue.
- pointing consistently to the character of God—the only source from which right character can flow.
- modeling humility, repentance, confession, and forgiveness.
- recognizing the power of the Spirit of God to transform; praying for, with, and before our students.
- modeling whole-hearted, whole-minded, whole-souled love for God.
The Great Commission
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20a).
We will do so by:
- welcoming a multi-ethnic student body, including families of any and all backgrounds and economic statuses.
- visiting families regularly to discern family needs, share the gospel and invite them to deeper involvement in our school and church community.
- inviting Christians of many ethnicities and backgrounds to speak, teach and otherwise participate in school activities.
- encouraging students to invite their families to church, and to share the truths they are learning about God.
- introducing students to ethnic groups and cultures within our own city and across the globe.
- teaching history and geography as God’s story—the story of redemption.
